HIV & AIDS IN SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa is the greatest country in the world infected with HIV & AIDS. Currently researchers show that one in every five South Africans are diagnosed with the virus. There is an average of more than 1,000 deaths of AIDS per year in South Africa.

WHAT IS HIV?

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus that causes AIDS. This virus may be passed from one person to another when infected blood, or other body parts come in contact with an uninfected person’s skin/body. Furthermore, infected pregnant women can pass HIV to their young during pregnancy, as well as through breast-feeding.

STEPS TOWARDS HIV PREVENTION

HIV is a virus which is almost impossible to completely cure . Therefore, people worldwide need to be informed and aware of the effects of this disease. With the establishments of campaigns, people will acknowledge the negative effects of the virus and learn to prevent themselves from becoming infected.
